NREN Weather Station

The CTIP connects to Women in WACREN Hackfast weather monitoring system which is developed and deployed across institutions within the research and education network (REN) to create a pool of weather data that are collected, analyzed and visualized on IoT platforms (Thingsboard) to generate a WEATHER MAP for the REN community.

Surveillance System with the Raspberry Pi

The surveillance system consists of a PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor, a push-button connected on a breadboard, and a camera linked to the Pi. The Finch Robot acts as the intruder, the PIR sensor detects the movement and then triggers the camera to take pictures of the Robot (intruder). The system function code is written in Python Language.

Home Automation Lighting System

In this project, the Echo Dot acts as a voice recognition switch that turns the GPIO pins on with the command ‘Alexa, turn on GPIO…’ to turn on and to turn off ‘Alexa, turn off GPIO….’. For this project, we used the GPIO 21 pin to connect an LED. When given the command to the Echo Dot, the LED light comes on and off when the Echo Dot gives it a command. This is a very smart project, the whole idea of IoT is well demonstrated in this project.

Girls in ICT Adopt – a – Bot

Use of robots as learning tools to promote STEM education and develop computational thinking, problem-solving among secondary schools, learn to code and broaden female pupils’ perspectives of technology and careers.  The lessons take place in selected secondary schools with university students from Eko-Konnect’s campus technology internship program teaching and mentoring the pupils.
